Ultrasound in Emergency Medicine & Critical Care:
An Intensive Hands-On Course
Bedside ultrasound is rapidly being integrated into clinical care
by emergency & critical care physicians but many physicians
have not yet had access to training. Now as a special pre-session
to Resuscitation 2009 you can learn sonography techniques to help
improve patient care. Under the direction of ultrasound expert Dr.Diku
Mandavia and with the assistance of top ultrasound faculty from
across the country experience a first-class hands-on ultrasound
course. Collectively these faculty have taught thousands of physicians
and have been brought together to create this special course.
Ultrasound in Emergency Medicine & Critical Care assumes no prior knowledge and will start with the basics and proceed to advanced principles. Core topics include abdominal scanning (aorta, biliary tract, kidneys) echocardiography, trauma FAST exam, pelvic sonography and sonographic assisted procedures. The morning session will include multimedia lectures with video movies demonstrating the best techniques of sonography. In the afternoon lab session you will have plenty of hands-on exposure with models to reinforce the lectures. Special vascular access phantoms will be used to practice venous access techniques. The day will conclude with a question & answer round table discussion on the practical and political aspects of ultrasound integration at your hospital.

This course will be extremely limited in size to maintain maximum hands-on instruction so register early to guarantee your position.
